My name is Nia Hamilton.
My adventures and studies have taken me around the world.
In high school, I studied abroad in Beijing, China for 9 months, which led me to completing a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations at Tufts University in 2017.
After graduating, I moved to Shiga, Japan to teach English with the JET Program, and I stayed there for almost three years.
When I returned home, I finished a Masters degree in Learning Design, Innovation and Technology at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
I am a generalist at heart, and I enjoy trying my hand at a variety of skills. Each new thing that I try expands my understanding of the world, so I never stop learning.
If I were to choose an interest at the core of it all, that interest would be language. I love learning more about how language informs people’s values, beliefs, and assumptions, and how we use language to communicate complex ideas. My passion for language extends to all of the roles I have worked in, including web development, education, project management, and more.
On a broader scale, I love thinking about how language interplays with culture. What we communicate with the world changes its shape, and we are shaped by the world in turn. You can read more about my musings on the topic in my blog, semantics.
